Dont ignore its importance

Did you know that poor social relationships can impact your physical health?

Health-related measures like blood pressure and heart rate improve even with short positive social interactions. We will show you ways that may help you create and keep important connections in your life.

The world we live in makes it harder to stay connected and be physically there with our loved ones and close friends. We stay connected through digital technology without physically being with other people most of the time. To work on our personal happiness and overall health, it is important that we meet people and go and drink coffee with some friends once in a while.

Face-to-face contact releases a whole cascade of neurotransmitters, and like a vaccine, they protect you now in the present, and well into the future. Simply making eye contact with somebody, shaking hands, or giving someone a high-five is enough to release oxytocin. Oxytocin increases our level of trust, and it lowers our cortisol levels. This will all lead to lower stress levels, increasing our overall health.

You can do little things to improve your connections in life. The best thing of all is that it will have an immense impact on your personal health and well-being. You can start by helping someone with a small task like opening the door for them; you can visit an elderly neighbor; give someone a compliment; smile more often; or make eye contact a habit. By doing these things you will not only be making someone else’s day, but you will also feel great about your efforts as well.
